Inaugural speech: Dr. Barbara Preitler, psychologist and psycho-therapist.

There are no secrets, which is all part of the fact that everything is transparent anyway. The hidden sphere was invented, in a place somewhere between need, desire, compensation, and projection. Out of my privacy, into my privacy! I lie in my bath with my waterproof smartphone and three sub-screens. Once again I fail in the attempt to create congruence between my worlds. I feel a bit sick, but my neighbour only says: “Tell me something new.” I get out of the lukewarm bathwater. I don’t give a fuck about privacy, and I have an opinion about everything. I know what it means to live properly, and so do you.

A warm breeze wafts through the private sphere, the curtain at the threshold opens, and this is a very warm welcome to the Gesch(l)ützter Raum 2014.

Biography:

Susanne Schuda works in the areas of video, installation, collage, text, the web, art in public areas, and performance.

“In my work I am primarily interested in the constitution of the individual within society and with a constructed reality. Exaggeration, intensification, re-constructing the familiar, and deforming the habitual make it possible to experience the mechanisms to which the individual is subjected.”
