The interactive installation Multi-touch aims at redirecting user behavior through a spatial interface in the exhibition space, thereby reversing the usage of a smartphone. The work tracks motions of gestures of analogue tools converting these into a 3D path. In combination with the corresponding gestures, a smartphone that is part of the installation can thus be operated.

Visitors can touch sensors installed in the space in a specific sequence to open different applications within the smartphone. Each pattern invites the user to enter that task’s physical design, thereby becoming a performer and explorer of those actions.
