The uncertainties of air and the interactive possibilities of clouds – both real and virtual.The atmospheric matter and the assemblage of data present a new kind of environmental consciousness connected by the cloud.Art, science and technology merge into multisensory experiences exposing philosophical, ecocritical and poetic connections in the atmosphere. This talk expands on Josefina Nelimarkka’s research and process-based works.

Josefina Nelimarkka is an interdisciplinary artist.In her workshe explores the in/visible and its perception in relation to the politics of air and future scenarios of climate change in collaboration with climate scientists, paleoclimatologists and nanoengineers.Continuous process, performativity and real-time climate data bring forth the momentary time and the sensitivity of the environment.

Josefina Nelimarkka was the artist in residence at SPACE Art + Technology in London 2018-19. She graduated from Royal College of Art in London and Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. Recent projects at The Finnish Institute in London, HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Techfestival Copenhagen, Solid Art in Taiwan, Jönköping City Library, super/collider, London School of Economics, Titanik and Mansions of the Future among other galleries and sites.
