In this kinetic work Christine Schörkhuber processes various devices, that have been as familiar to her as her own body for a certain amount of time. Towards the analog interfaces to the digital space an anthropomorphizing approach can be observed. Moods, characteristic and individual conditions are interpreted into them. In the rubber materiality and the movement, they merge into figures with a new (un)canny nature.
As a Y2K original edition, the artist experienced a rapid change in technologies, systems and standards in her previous media art practice. Like flayings of a snake, one thing after another detached itself.
The body as a cyborg, the interfaces to electronic data processing as the greatest sense organ. Binary is only code.

Christine Schörkhuber studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She is a sound and media artist and interested in close listening and the dynamics of relations and systems on individual, sociopolitical and technological level. She realizes installations as well as objects and musical compositions. Christine Schörkhuber is also active as a curator and organiser. Thanks to Arnold Haberl, Christoph Freidhöfer
