A midsummer night’s dream of a different kind, although: there is a ship, fog horn and flying amu- sement. If you look into the midsummer night’s dream, you will find yourself – in a sea of stone.“

The influence of film noir in black and white, Hitchcock’s nightmare sequences and the early avant-garde films with experimental camera movements and double exposures, is mirrored in the work AND I FIND ME in a three dimensional way; whereby observers can enact themselves into the dream (from projections). The spatial surrounding of the showroom and the oversized self-portrait of the viewer is reflected in the projection surface of stones. The space-media installation is the stage for an interplay, a dialogue between the external and in- ternal, it toys with personal perception and reality.

Sabine Groschup, born 1959 in Innsbruck, is an Austrian artist, filmmaker and author. She studied with Maria Lassnig at the University for Applied Art in Vienna. In 2012, she was awarded the Innsbruck Prize for Artistic Creation. She lives and works in Vienna.
