The 3D-LAB supports experimentation between digital models and physical objects. Its equipment includes printers for clay, PET and other materials, enabling work with ceramics, recycled materials and diverse forms of object production.

The AI-LAB provides open access to critical infrastructure for research and teaching that treats artificial intelligence as both method and material. It is a space for unstable models, alternate realities and forms of intelligence that diverge from linear or extractive logics.

The Electronics-LAB is a hands-on space for electronic circuits, Arduino microcontrollers and hardware manipulation. Established by Patrícia Reis and now overseen by Stefan Fischer, it supports the integration of electronics into artistic practice.
Interactive installations, sensor systems, Arduino works, custom controllers, electronic objects and hardware hacks.
The Immersive-LAB surrounds its audience with four projection walls, floor, ceiling and spatial sound. It hosts embedded digital art, room-filling installations, live performance and immersive cinema. The lab can also be rented for third-party events.

The Olfactory Futures Lab positions scent and smell as artistic media with ephemeral and relational effects. It also incorporates the department’s former Bio-LAB activities, connecting olfaction, living systems and biomaterials with art, AI, technology, memory, affect, ecology and social transformation.

The Research-LAB advances research in digital arts and media. It builds research skills and media literacy, develops tools, expands research horizons and creates collaborations with other institutions.

The Sound-LAB is dedicated to spatial sound, sonic expression and experimentation. Regular jam sessions bring students and faculty together to record, listen, collaborate and build spatial sound situations.

The Science Visualization Lab makes invisible scientific phenomena visible. It works with authentic scientific data while developing captivating visual forms for research, communication and artistic exhibitions.
